About our collective
The Land-Based Living Collective was founded in 2024 in response to the growing disconnect between people and the land and the urgent need for affordable, ecological ways of living.
We're a small tribe of artists, natural builders, healers, growers, visionaries and strategists united by the shared desire to make low-impact land-based community living more accessible here in the UK.
We're animated by a love of the land, a commitment to ecological and social justice, and the knowledge that land-based community offers a way of life rich in connection, natural abundance and quiet joys whilst honouring the interconnected needs of people, place and planet.
Ultimately, like many thousands of people all over these green isles, we just long to live gently on the land with others who share deep ecological and pro-social values. So we've set about trying to create the beautiful one-planet communities of our dreamsā€”for ourselves, for everyone who feels the call back to the land, and for the living earth who we believe would love to welcome us home into her loving arms.
Progress so far
We've developed a clear vision and roadmap, and set up our structural frameworks-including registering as a CIC in spring 2025 to establish not-for-profit status. We're currently working to grow our core team, weave the partnerships, and build the financial engine needed to gather some real momentum.
In summer 2025 we started working on our first pilot community project in South Devon. And with the launch of our online hub in autumn 2025, we now have a collaboration space to move that project forward as well as to seed and nurture other community groups around the country.
We've also just launched the first of several enterprise initiatives we've been developing, WyldRoomsā€”a natural building business offering circular straw-bale garden rooms.
Join us on this journey
We're actively looking for people to join in with day-to day operations, events organising, communications, fundraising, and plenty more. And we're soon going to need natural builders to work on WyldRooms commissions.
We're also seeking funding partners, expert advisors, and creative collaborations with individuals and organisations involvedĀ in the renaissance of land-based culture.
And of course, we want to welcome as many people as possible into our online hub who might want to live in the kind of communities we're working to create, and who are up for collaborating with others to bring them into being.
